How to Repair Wool rug?

Hullo, rug lovers!

Wool is hand made rug. If your rug is wool, you should know how to repair woolrug.

There are several ways of repairing wool rug, but I will tell about the easiest one.

Material needed: tweezers (with flat end), scissors with sharp blade, thread in color similar to rug's pile, soft brush or shaving brush (optional) and awl (scriber).

Step 1. Prepare scissor and tweezers with sharp blades, sewing needle and thread of appropriate color for weaving loose ends into rug (it may be dark colored embroidery floss or "silk" thread). When choosing thread consider - do you need it to be strong or not?

Step 2. Identify rug's pile direction and mark it with thread on both ends of rug. Carefully cut the rug in a zigzag manner following the rug pile, but do not cut through rug backing! Try to follow pattern of rug as you can (it may help to use templates drawn from paper).

Note: only rug piles should be cut, not edges of rug!

Step 3. Cut off excess pile strands neatly using scissor with blade almost parallel to floor/table surface with teeth pointing towards rug. Do not leave any long loose ends sticking out - they will unravel your rug even more when you brush it after repairing wool rug! If there long threads from one end of rug, just cut them off and leave the other end intact.

Step 4. Now your rug pile is only as thick as rug backing (thinner if rug pile was cut unevenly). Brush rug to remove any dirt and dust from rug's back, then use scissors to trim uneven edges of rug pile if necessary.

Step 5. Your rug is done! You can start using it again :) If you want to make your rug even more durable and neat - brush it with soft shaving brush (or better: take it to a shoe repair shop and ask for professional help). They will try to brush the rug in the opposite direction that we brushed before starting this wool rug repair tutorial; don't be afraid, they'll know what they are doing!
